In this, and in your way of conducting yourself, you have always shown a level of dignity and humility which is a fine example for all those youngsters currently dreaming of emulating the modern heroes of the game.

You are a fine role model, as a man and a footballer, to our exciting crop of young players at Hearts.

It is great to see many of the heroes of the 1998 and 2006 teams at Tynecastle today to celebrate your career with this special match.
