HNT: Young guns ready to fire
Youngsters Matej Rapnik and Ryan McGowan could make their first team debuts tomorrow when Hearts take on Kilmarnock in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
The pair are set to start the match on the bench as the Jambos look to bring the curtain down on their season at Tynecastle with victory over Jim Jefferies' side.
With captain Christophe Berra being rested for the last two games of the campaign to avoid the possibility of another booking which would trigger a two-game suspension at the start of next season, caretaker manager Stephen Frail will make changes at the centre of his defence.
While tempted to throw in the Slovenia U18 captain alongside Christos Karipidis or perhaps hand the Aussie starlet his first start, Marius Zaliukas looks favourite to partner the Greek against Killie.
Stephen, though, told HNT there is every chance of the youngsters being involved at some stage tomorrow.
"Christophe won't be playing tomorrow as he's just one booking away from a ban at the start of next season so there will be a change at the back," he said.
"Marius is the obvious candidate, although Rapnik and McGowan are in the squad as well for tomorrow.
"The young lads have been doing well and to be honest had it not been for injuries, could well have featured before now. They deserve their chance and I'd like to see them feature at some point during the game. The same goes for Steven Husband who has been playing well in the reserves and will also be in the squad."
With tomorrow being Hearts' final home game of the season, Stephen wants to finish with a win to give the supporters something to shout about.
He added: "We all know how disappointing the season has been. Tomorrow is our last match in front of our fans this season and it's vital that we give them a performance to mark the occasion.
"The Falkirk defeat on Monday night was a blow as they seemed to have more desire than us. That is something we cannot afford tomorrow as Kilmarnock will be up for it."
Jason Thomson is set to continue at right back with Robbie Neilson struggling with a stomach injury.
Tickets for tomorrow are still available - and will be right up until kick-off with prices starting between £6 and £18. Click here for more details.
