Hearts tonight called upon supporters to travel in good numbers to Fir Park for the final game of the season against Gretna, tomorrow (7.45pm kick-off).

It is set to be an emotional occasion, coming two years to the day since the Borders club faced the Edinburgh side in one of the most memorable Scottish Cup Finals of all time, which Hearts won on penalties.

With the two clubs having established a close friendship in the past couple of seasons Hearts hopes that its supporters will offer Gretna support by way of attending the match in Motherwell.

Gretna's hopes of survival now hang by a thread with the club's administrators Wilson Field setting a deadline of this Saturday for any bidders to take full control otherwise the process of full liquidation will begin, meaning the end for the club that for a short while threatened to make their own fairytale dream a reality.

A Hearts spokesperson said, "People think of football at the top end of the game, but nobody at Gretna will be able to afford to be in the position they are in - both players and off field staff.

"It's an unimaginable situation, and whilst we recognise it's more of a token gesture than anything that can necessarily help in a big way, we'd call upon supporters to attend the game, if they possibly can."

Ticket prices are £15 for adults, £5 for concessions and £1 for U16s all available via cash-only turnstiles. Supporters should note that access is to the Main Stand at Fir Park only. No other part of the stadium will be opened for the game.
