HNT: Eggert misses final game
Caretaker boss Stephen Frail will be forced into a midfield reshuffle after Eggert Jonsson was ruled out of tonight's Clydesdale Bank Premier League meeting with Gretna at Fir Park.
The Icelandic international will miss the last game of the season after injuring his hamstring in Saturday's defeat from Kilmarnock at Tynecastle.
The youngster has only recently shaken off a foot problem and his enforced absence will mean Stephen makes at least one change to his starting XI. for the clash against the relegated Borderers.
Better news came in the form of Marius Zaliukas recovering from a hip knock and Gary Glen also declaring himself fit after complaining of tightness in his calf.
"Eggert strained his hamstring against Kilmarnock and that's why he wasn't involved in the testimonial on Sunday," said Stephen. "He's also out for tonight.
"Marius took a knock to his hip but tried it out in training yesterday and everything seems fine. Gary Glen is also okay despite a wee problem with his calf after the Kilmarnock match. The temptation is there to make a lot of changes after the weekend but I'm not sure that is appropriate.
"We are desperate to win this final match of the season. Seventh place is the best position we can finish but that's out of our hands now after our last two disappointing results. All we can do is win tonight and wait and see what Falkirk do against Kilmarnock this weekend.
"Gretna's problems have been well documented and it's sad to see them in such a predicament. However, there is no place for sentiment this evening and we owe it to our fans to go out there and put on a show at Fir Park and bring the curtain down on the season with a good victory."
