Stephen Frail could only watch on in disbelief as Hearts' season came to a shuddering halt away to Gretna, this evening.

The interim manager was left to rue the end of a season to forget after Gavin Skelton finally gave Gretna some cheer with a stoppage time winner.

In truth Hearts did not create much at Fir Park, and whilst it seemed that the game was petering towards a scoreless conclusion, Stephen admitted that it summed up the Edinburgh side's season.

"Disappointing doesn't even come close," he told the media after the game. "If you were a betting man, you'd have bet on that tonight the way things have gone this season.

"It has just summed up everything that has happened and went wrong this year.

"I don't think they played anyway that they can. They probably started better, then we got Gary sent off and we upped the tempo. Then second half we had two or three good chances and should have been 1-0 up.

"Ivaskevicius should have shot, we don't and within 20 seconds we're 1-0 down. Not even the game, just that little 20 second period sums up the whole season.

"I've told the players, all of them, every single player and every single member of staff need to take responsibility for what has happened this season."
