Darren reasonably satisfied
U19 coach Darren Murray was reasonably satisfied with the performance of his squad at yesterday's Keyline Challenge Cup Tournament in Oban, despite mixed results.
Hearts named a squad which included some U19s and other fringe players, with four of Darren's usual squad currently with the first team, and other players rested ahead of the Milk Cup in Northern Ireland.
Hamilton defeated Hearts 1-0 in the opening match, Oban Athletic then won 2-1 before Dundee United made it a hat-trick of defeats, their full first team winning 2-0.
Hearts then thumped last year's winners Alloa Athletic 4-1, before going down 2-0 to St Johnstone in the last match.
"The results weren't great," Darren told Hearts News, "but we passed the ball reasonably well and cannot be downbeat given we mixed the squad up a bit. We certainly got a good work-out. These games are really tough and good for fitness levels.
"We left out five or six players who will go to the Milk Cup, partly because we felt that having been involved in this tournament last year they looked a bit jaded once we got to Northern Ireland.
"We've got a slightly different programme of games for them to ensure they are ready for what is the big pre-season event, an internationally recognised tournament."
