New deals for McGowan and Husband
From Hearts News in Elvtille, Germany
Hearts this morning announced that starlets Ryan McGowan and Steven Husband have penned new deals with the Tynecastle club.
Australian defender, a regular in first team squads last season will remain in maroon for another five years.
Attacker Steven Husband has put pen to paper on a three year agreement.
Csaba Laszlo welcomed the news saying, "I am absolutely delighted that both players are staying at Hearts with us.
"I've said all along that the Academy is the most important part of our club. We must see the best young players make the breakthrough.
"Both Ryan and Steven have done well on our trip in Germany and I am looking forward to seeing them make more progress in the season ahead."
Ryan McGowan is absolutely delighted to be staying having agreed in principle his new deal at the end of last season.
"I was happy here and the club was happy to extend my contract," he said. "It was more or less where to sign. It gives me a bit of confidence that the club is looking at me as a player for the future.
"There are a few boys that have signed up. Christophe and Andrew Driver are happy to stay on, too. The club is looking more towards the young players which is a good thing.
"They are probably one of the two biggest influences on us. They have come through the young system and done well. It shows you what you can achieve."
Former Cowdenbeath man Steven Husband still has to pinch himself that he's with Hearts.
"It is massive," he said. "It is a big change from being at a team like Cowdenbeath and before you know it you are on a trip to Germany with Hearts first team.
"We wouldn't stay in a five star hotel. All the stuff is taken care off and it is how you are looked after. Everything is there for you.
"I was on the bench a couple of times myself last season but if I can be there or thereabout like Ryan then I will be happy."
