Hearts today announced that Saulius Mikoliunas' loan deal at Tynecastle has been extended to the end of the season.

'Miko', as he is affectionately known by supporters and team-mates joined Hearts a year ago from FBK Kaunas and became an instant hit at Tynecastle with his direct and exciting attacking style.

Miko turns away from Derek McInnes

The Lithuanian international has made 28 appearances in maroon and has scored three goals during his time in Edinburgh.

Commenting this morning assistant coach John McGlynn told Hearts News, "We're pleased to keep Miko on for the rest of the season. He knows he has a tough battle on his hands now that we've strengthened the squad during the January transfer window.

Saul Mikoliunas wriggles clear

"He is an enthusiastic lad and we're sure he'll fight all the way for his place. That can only be good for Hearts. He has showed a good attitude in training. He is a good player to work with because he is still young, and he is still learning."
