Andrew Murray

Sports scientist Andrew Murray previously worked at the Sports Medicine Centre at Hampden Park. At Hampden he was a sports scientist responsible for fitness testing of squads and individuals taking into account maximal aerobic capacity, lactate threshold, and peak power.
He was also a consultant for national senior and international youth and collegiate football teams on all aspects of fitness development.
Andrew has also been involved with British Swimming at an elite level and as part of this has published various coaching resources for use by staff and swimmers and has lectured students on sports psychology and physiology.
The club's first ever sports scientist is also a qualified youth football coach, having worked in the United States and in Scotland on the Coever programme which is used at Riccarton. Andrew has also enjoyed a successful playing career with Preston Athletic. He joined Hearts in November 2006.
At Riccarton Andrew is involved in the rehabilitation and monitoring of all players. In particular he is working closely with fitness coach Tom Ritchie on developing to ways of improving sporting performance.
