Ricardas Beniusis

Signed: June 2007 from Kauno Futbolo ir Beisbolo Klubas (Kaunas FBK)

A physically imposing and experienced centre forward who has played 18 games for Lithuania and was captain of Kaunas FBK before joining Hearts for an initial period of six months.

Ricardas started his striking career with FK Inkaras of Kaunas and he was briefly in Russia from 2000-2001 with FC Baltika Kaliningrad and then FK Kryla Sovetov Samara. His prolific strike rate with Inkaras earned another period abroad and in 2002, Ricardas was with the Norwegian club IK Start of Kristiansand.

The following year, after Inkaras went bankrupt, the towering striker played for FK Atlantas Klaipeda before transferring to Kaunas FBK and helping his new club to win the Championship in 2004 and 2006. Ricardas will surely be awarded another medal at the end of the current season, as his 17 goals have again taken Kaunas to the top of the Lithuanian League.

In addition, the big hit man helped Kaunas to win the Lithuanian Cup in 2004 when he scored in the successful penalty shoot-out against Atlantas and then in the Cup Final of 2005, Ricardas scored against FK Vetra Vilnius in a 2-0 victory. He has huge experience in Europe and in 2006 he played in the Final of the Commonwealth of Independent States Cup, although Kaunas lost to Neftchi Baku.
