Hearts v St Mirren
CBSPL - Tynecastle Stadium
Wednesday 26th December

Welcome to this afternoon's Clydesdale Bank Premier League game against St Mirren, our last home match of 2007.

Next month sees the opening of the transfer window and it would be fair to see we expect there to be changes as we look to strengthen the team and improve our results.

You always expect some kind of movement during the window. We have some quality players here but nevertheless we always have positions we might want to strengthen. If it so happens that the clubs and players involved can agree something, then new faces will more than likely arrive here.

Our printing deadline means I am unable to comment on the games against Rangers and Inverness.

However, what I can say is that over Christmas week and into New Year is a key period for us and if the current team proves to be incapable of getting the right results, then something will have to happen as regards changes.

Comparing the squad to the one which was here last season at this time, there has been a lot of changes. We have the likes Eggert Jonsson, Michael Stewart, Christian Nade and Ruben Palazuelos in whom we have faith and trust and it might be a case of giving these players a bit more time to gel as a unit.

To the players who are reading this as well, it is not enough to put your heart into what you do, you must put your soul into it as well. Maybe some of the players here don't realise that - but they will have to realise it very quickly as ultimately we cannot keep disappointing the fans.

The best present we can give the fans over this period is three points in every game.

We want to work to make you happy, to produce the kind of performances which will allow you to leave Tynecastle at the end of matches feeling pride at what you have seen and with your heads held high.

Let's hear some noise - again!
